The Shandukani Cattle farm has increased its numbers significantly since its inception in 2009.The farm now has a variety of cattle, goats and sheep.

The Radzambo Chicken Farm commenced in 2009 focusing on egg production. The facility is equipped to pack and wrap the eggs with barcoded labels for the wholesale and retail market. A further investment from the Department on Rural Development allowed the trust to increase the chicken houses. The chicken farm is now diversified and breed chickens for meat.

gardenMasakona Matsila Vegetable Farm

The Masakona vegetable farm grows and harvests various vegetables through tunnel farming. The tunnels are equipped with drip irrigation and produces a harvest of various vegetable including tomatoes, peppers, spinach, chillies and cabbage. The trust has added more tunnels in this project to cater for the demand in the area.The trust supplies traders and individuals around the Vhembe district and the community.

Chief Livhuwani Matsila is passionate about agriculture and rural development. He sees this as a key in poverty alleviation through job creation. Chief Matsila is now using the success of his project as a model to assist other impoverished villages. He has strategically partnered with their non-profit organisations and assists them in raising funding for community development projects.

Chief Matsila has an opportunity to various aspiring artists from his village and neighbouring villages. They were trained and given the resources to produce their art. The talent of the artists has been overwhelming. There art has been showcased at exhibitions hosted by Government and the National Lotteries Commission.

Sculpters were invited from the Matsila village and surrounding villages and given the resources to produce their sculptures. The results have been amazing. The sculptures have been produced by men, woman and youth. Their sculptures have also been showcased at exhibitions.

The trust together with its funders established a pottery school with all the latest equipment. This included pottery wheels, Kilns for drying and shaping tools. There are now producing a variety of products ready for the local and international market.

The Matsila Community Development Trust together with it partners hosted the Tshivenda Music Awards. Winners were chosen from various categories. The event got a lot of exposure in the media and was a huge success.

Various events were held around Venda promoting cultural dances, and music. The competition ran over a few weeks and the winner was chosen at a stadium in Thohoyandou. The event was graced by various VIPS. The winners were presented with prizes at the event. The winners at this event were invited to perform at an event in Mapungubwe.

The Matsila Trust was sponsored trophies and certificates that was handed to all the top achievers in the 2015 exams in the Vhembe District. The trust used this as an opportunity to support education and promote the culture of learning amongst the youth.

The foundation sponsored 5 laptops, data bundles and trophies for all the top achievers in the Vhembe district 2015 examinations.
